Depot Park work nears completion as city schedules talent show and tournaments

Safety-Service Director Wheeler reported at the June 15 Orrville City Council meeting that final work at Depot Park is underway and that several summer events will mark the site’s reopening.
Wheeler said crews are applying the final asphalt coating at Depot Park, with striping expected by the end of the week and landscaping completed. He said a fence will be removed this week and that the Community Talent Show on June 25 at 7 p.m. on the Centennial Stage will serve as the park’s kickoff. "The talent show will be the kick off for Depot Park on June 25th," Wheeler told council.
Wheeler also updated council on broader projects: the Heartland bike trail pavement is complete and crews are finishing final grading and punch list items; signaling and pavement markings will be done this week. He reported that Kingsway Asphalt is lined up to complete the East Hostetler project during Quality Castings’ shutdown.
He noted the parade is scheduled for June 30 and that the 12U tournament begins June 26 and the 14U tournament begins July 1; Wheeler said there are about 118 teams expected from seven states.
