The Round Lake Area Board of Education approved a $23,500 professional-development contract to support the Amplify ELA middle-school curriculum.
Principal Corcoran presented the contract and said the program includes initial training sessions for teachers and administrators, as well as follow-up training and coaching throughout the year. "It is important to note that we were approved for Title II funds for the entirety of this professional development contract," she said, identifying Title II as the funding source.
The contract was brought forward by administration and recommended by the finance committee; the board moved, seconded, and approved the contract on a roll-call vote.
The administration said the training is intended to support implementation of the new curriculum and to provide ongoing coaching for staff. No implementation timeline beyond the current school year was specified in the meeting discussion.
