Liquor Store Manager Lana Jacobson reported that combined gross sales for March were down about 11% compared with the prior year, while cost-of-goods-sold fell roughly 2.56 percentage points and net revenues rose about 11.05% as a percentage of sales year-over-year. Year-to-date revenues were down about 5.92% as a percentage of sales and payroll expenses rose roughly 3.37%.
Jacobson told the council she appreciated staff teamwork during a recent internet outage and said tariffs on Canadian whiskies and Mexican tequilas and rums will force the store to raise prices significantly. To delay increases, she said she has been buying extra inventory in advance of the tariffs.
The council acknowledged receipt and review of the Liquor Store Report by unanimous motion; no pricing ordinance or immediate action was recorded at the meeting.
