Farmingdale water department reports wells online and grant commitments for new ground tank

Farmingdale's water department told trustees on June 22 that Well 1-3 is fully operational and Plant 2 wells 2-2 and 2-3 will be online for the pumping season. The SCADA contractor, Eagle Control, is finalizing the system online and adjusting alarms. The department reported completed evaluation of the ground tank roof and structure and said next steps will be developed by Administrator Brian Harty, John Mirando and consultant D&B.
Minutes note a grant commitment from Senator Chuck Schumer and Congressman Tom Suozzi for more than $1.0 million to partially fund a new ground tank, and a separate $2 million grant application submitted through Congressman Suozzi's office for site work, piping for the proposed tank, and demolition of the existing ground storage tank once the new tank is operational. The water department also reported ongoing sampling and routine maintenance, a repaired watermain break at 15 Thomas Powell Blvd., and coordination with the South Farmingdale Water District.
No construction contract or schedule was recorded in the work-session minutes; staff identified next steps and grant-seeking activity that will inform design and procurement.
