Hobart board authorizes bidding for $5.3M estimate on 38th Place stormwater phases 1–2

The Hobart City Redevelopment Authority approved issuing plans and solicitations for Phase 1 and 2 of the 38th Place stormwater and Filmore improvement projects and directed staff to bid the County Line culvert at the same time.
Staff said plans and specifications are ready for phases 1–2, with phases 3–4 in early planning. The board set the procurement timeline: advertisements on April 9 and 16, a pre-bid conference on April 30, bids opened May 7 and award planned at the May 12 board meeting. Staff estimated the phases 1–2 cost at about $5.3 million including a 15% contingency; that figure was presented as an engineer’s estimate and not a guaranteed contract price.
Board members discussed coordinating the work zones to secure better pricing and avoid multiple mobilizations. The board voted to approve the solicitation of bids for phases 1 and 2 and separately approved reissuing bid documents to advertise the County Line culvert project concurrently.
What’s next: staff will publish the bid documents and bring award recommendations back to the board in May.
