Select Board authorizes streetlighting evaluation with Liberty Utilities and sends Highland Avenue easement to attorney

On Feb. 17 the Canaan Select Board authorized the Town Administrator to sign an agreement with Liberty Utilities and NH Saves for a complimentary streetlighting evaluation and separately authorized the Town Administrator to send an Amaral-Murray turnaround easement agreement on Highland Avenue to the town attorney for review.

Select Board member Sadie Wells thanked Bryan Armbrust for his work on the lighting project with NH Saves. The motion authorizing the Town Administrator to sign the Liberty Utilities/NH Saves evaluation agreement was moved by Stephen Freese and seconded by Scott Johnston and was recorded as approved in the minutes.

The board discussed the Amaral and Murray easement and voted to authorize the Town Administrator to seek legal review of the turnaround easement on Highland Avenue (motion by Stephen Freese; second by Scott Johnston). The minutes record approval of that authorization but do not include a roll-call tally.

Town Administrator Chet Hagenbarth reported there are 11 applications for the open finance position; Sadie Wells and the Town Administrator will conduct interviews. There were no candidates for the town treasurer position and the board will announce the vacancy in the town newsletter. The board finalized election-poll coverage for March 10 and adjourned the public meeting at 7:15 PM to enter nonpublic session. The next Select Board meeting is scheduled for March 3, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the EOC.
