"Because Community Power requires a major effort, and may not benefit residents, we will not consider trying to reactivate the committee at this time," Couch said.
The decision reflects concern that re-starting the effort would demand staff and volunteer time without clear savings for residents. Committee member Russ Dann had opened the discussion by asking about the committee's status; Couch said he checked the town website and found no recent activity.
The committee did not record a formal vote on reactivation at this meeting; members treated the matter as a decision not to pursue reactivation for now and left the Community Power effort dormant. The committee did not specify criteria or a timeline for reconsidering the program.
The committee's next meeting is scheduled for March 26 at 6:30 p.m., where members may raise related topics if new information becomes available.
