Bristol committee confirms summer events lineup, sets accessibility and volunteer follow-ups

At its March 9 meeting the Bristol Community Events Committee reviewed and confirmed several summer and community-event items, including the full 2026 Summer Concert Series and dates for recurring fundraisers and community nights.
The committee confirmed the Summer Concert Series schedule after receiving all performer contracts. Red Daisy Revival was moved to July 2 and will open with a patriotic introduction; North River Music was also added to the lineup. Candy Bar Bingo dates were confirmed for May 17 and Oct. 24; members discussed volunteer staffing (three volunteers adequate, four ideal) and noted local retail candy-bar prices have risen to about $4. To keep the game accessible the committee decided to sell candy bars at $2.
Old Home Day planning continued: Mirror Me will test the Library hotspot for vendor connectivity, DJ Tim Martin is confirmed and committee members are considering interactive activities (Freeze Dance, Guess-the-Song, Coke & Pepsi, Simon Says). Tent layout adjustments are planned to improve family access and shade. Food truck recruitment has produced limited responses to date.
On accessibility transportation, the high school golf cart is unavailable and members expressed concern that using the Town car could attract unintended public vehicle traffic; Ingrid Heidenreich said she will check whether a golf cart can be borrowed from another town. The committee also noted new volunteer signup pages on the BCEC website and will produce printed volunteer handouts and on-site clipboards for events.
Other items included continued outreach for sponsors (particularly in-kind gift cards), planning for a Community Night Out (Franklin Savings Bank to run popcorn), and a Superheroes & Sidekicks fundraiser with seven confirmed superhero businesses and two sidekicks; follow-up with prior-year sponsors is planned. Christina Goodwin will compile historical Grand Marshal and citizen-honoree lists with a final selection expected by May.
