The New York Mills City Council held a public hearing on July 8, 2025, on Ordinance No. 127, a proposal to formally establish a New York Mills Park Board under Minnesota Statute 412.501, Mayor Hetland said. The hearing was called to order at 5:35 p.m. in council chambers at 118 N. Main Ave.
City Clerk Julie A. Roberts told the council that a review of past records had not uncovered any formal action creating a park board, even though the council has discussed the issue in prior meetings. Roberts also said a park board fund already exists. The ordinance would establish board membership, officers, meeting rules, and the board’s powers and duties as outlined in the statute, she said.
No members of the public were present to offer questions or comments, and Mayor Hetland closed the public hearing at 5:37 p.m. The transcript of the hearing does not record a vote or final adoption of the ordinance at that meeting.
