New York Mills council approves ordinances, tax rebates, hires public works maintenance worker and accepts donations

At its May 13 meeting the New York Mills City Council approved multiple ordinances and resolutions, ratified a hiring decision, and acknowledged donations and program applications.
Ordinances approved included Ordinance No. 1201 (Tekstar), Ordinance No. 1202 (MIDCO) and Ordinance No. 116 (abandoned property). Council approved Resolution No. 05-13-2025e to add additional parcels to the NYM property tax rebate program and approved three tax rebate applications submitted by Brad Kneisl, Central Concrete Construction and William Warner. The council also introduced a Park Board ordinance and approved Resolution No. 05-13-2025f to complete the Park Board establishment process.
The council ratified the hiring of Dylan Ness for the Public Works Maintenance II position (pre-employment checks pending), approved a request from the New York Mills Booster Club to install turf in Lund Park batting cages (the Booster Club will pay for turf), and acknowledged cash donations from the NYM Lions Club, Magnifi Financial, Wadena Elks and VFW Post 3289. The council also approved a State of Minnesota joint powers agreement and other routine resolutions included in the packet.
Most motions were carried by unanimous vote. A closed session on a real estate offer resulted in approval of the offer subject to verification of assessments and a processing fee. The meeting adjourned at 6:36 p.m.
