District staff told the board July 6 that the middle school construction project is on schedule and that preparations are underway for the start of the school year.
The construction update said crews are reinstalling ceiling tile, cleaning rooms and working through the 6th-grade wing; staff credited Mr. Howard for close oversight and said the project is on track to have classrooms ready for students.
Separately, staff described a daycare pilot intended for 3- and 4-year-olds (not infants), reporting there are currently eight registered participants, a mix of employees and community members. Board members and staff discussed program scope, whether the district would prioritize full-time spots for financial viability, half-day options that could coordinate with pre-K, and the need for final pricing information. Staff agreed to confirm exact rates and report back to the board.
Staff also reminded the board about in-person registration scheduled for July 14 (with continuing online options for returning families) and administrator professional development starting July 15. The board thanked staff and adjourned the meeting.
