Knox board accepts resignations, approves new hires and welcomes incoming coach Wes Ratke

The board added two resignations to the personnel report — Michelle Tarnow and Jason Doolin — and approved the superintendent’s recommendations for both the resignations and listed new hires. A motion to approve the personnel report was moved, seconded and carried by voice vote.
Board and staff remarks described Tarnow as a long-serving leader in the district. “She’s done with the corporation, I believe, for 29 years,” a district staff member said, praising Tarnow’s work as a teacher and principal and thanking her for her service. The staff member also described Doolin as an engaged teacher who led projects in his classroom and said students would miss him.
Among the hires announced was a third-grade teacher (Ms. Rojans) intended to help reduce class sizes and improve elementary reading outcomes, and Wes Ratke, who was introduced in person. Ratke said he is a lifelong resident and the incoming head basketball coach and described his priorities: “This is about these young men and their future… I’m here to work… I wanna win.” Board members welcomed Ratke and thanked staff for their work in recruiting.
Staff said the personnel approvals were routine and aligned with the district’s staffing needs for the coming school year. The board closed discussion after brief remarks and moved on to other agenda items.
