Nan Stone, a member of the Canaan Planning Board, reported on Feb. 12 that the Master Plan subcommittee has circulated survey results to the board and will hold two well-publicized public meetings in the third quarter of 2026 to gather additional public input. The subcommittee is conducting outreach with town members and local groups to discuss priorities identified in the survey, including sidewalks.
Stone said the Master Plan subcommittee will meet regularly to hear from residents and stakeholders; the next subcommittee meeting is scheduled for the second Monday of the month at 5:00 PM at the same location (Mascoma Community Health Center/Zoom). No formal votes were taken on Master Plan content at the Feb. 12 meeting.
Why it matters: the Master Plan guides long-term decisions about land use, transportation and public amenities; public meetings are an opportunity for residents to influence priorities before plan adoption.
