Committee confirms air‑show plans and asks for volunteers to sustain event next year

Organizers of the airport’s community event told the Airport Advisory Committee on June 2 that sponsorships cover the show’s costs and that several notable participants are expected.
Bob Chieffo said sponsors are sufficient and listed attractions and partners that will attend, including an Army National Guard Blackhawk helicopter (Bangor), the Coast Guard, the Airport Association, Ye Ole Hookers, ACE Camp, and a pending confirmation from RCMP. He said a helicopter will bring the mayor of St. Stephen and a Synergy official. Chieffo described gate control plans, volunteer assignments (including Scout Troop 125) and a plan that aircraft will park before cars and motorcycles are admitted.
Chieffo told the committee he cannot continue organizing the event alone and requested formation of a three‑ to five‑person committee to share planning responsibilities next year. Committee members assigned roles for day‑of operations (gate, air traffic advisories, banners) and noted the event can continue this year with existing volunteer support.
The committee did not vote on a formal transfer of responsibilities at the meeting; members were asked to consider serving on the proposed organizing committee.
