Planning board schedules public hearing on Night Sky amendment for March 4, 2025

The Campton Planning Board on Feb. 4, 2025, confirmed that the proposed Night Sky Amendment would not be included in this year’s town meeting because the Planning Board lacked sufficient time to hold the required public hearing. Vice Chair Jake Tuck asked Planning and Zoning Coordinator Bergren Cliff whether the amendment had been submitted in time, and Cliff replied it had not.
Because of the timing, the board set a public hearing on the proposed Night Sky Amendment for the March 4, 2025 work session. Board member Stuart Pitts recommended that amendments be managed throughout the year rather than be deferred until a single annual meeting, a procedural approach the board may consider for future ordinance changes.
The Feb. 4 discussion produced no decision on the amendment’s substance; it addressed only scheduling and process. The public hearing on March 4 will provide an opportunity for formal public comment and any necessary revisions before the board decides whether to advance the measure to town meeting in a future year.
