Town Administrator Christina Goodwin told the Board the Minot-Sleeper Library has posted a Youth Services Librarian position following the previous employee’s departure; six applications had been received by the meeting date. The Board discussed whether the advertised pay rate reflected 2025 levels and Ms. Goodwin said she would confirm whether the 2026 pay rates, effective in April, should be reflected in the posting.
Ms. Goodwin reported a roof leak at the library caused by a suspected ice dam in a roof valley. Fire and Highway Department staff inspected the roof and the Fire Department used a ladder truck to help address immediate water intrusion. An electrician has been scheduled to check wiring and the light fixture affected by the leak.
Board members raised concerns about addressing ice dams without creating additional building damage and suggested a qualified roofing or building-insulation professional evaluate the roof and recommend preventive measures. The minutes record discussion about clarifying maintenance responsibilities for the library building: while library staff manage interior operations, the building is a Town asset, and the Board said an MOU with the Minot-Sleeper Library Trustees may be appropriate. The Board also suggested possibly setting aside funds to hire a contractor or consultant to coordinate maintenance.
No formal vote was recorded on maintenance funding at this meeting; the Board asked the Town Administrator to follow up on pay-rate confirmation for the librarian posting and to report back on recommended next steps for roof and building maintenance.
