Bristol Select Board finalizes Town Meeting slides, assignments and flags ambulance funding fallback

Town Administrator Christina Goodwin reviewed draft PowerPoint slides and speaker assignments for the upcoming Bristol Town Meeting, advising the Board to keep slides informational and avoid commentary. The Voters’ Guide and estimated tax-impact materials will be available; roughly 100 printed copies of the Guide are planned for attendees.
Budget Committee Chair Paul Regan may present or move Article 14, the 2026 Town budget. The Board assigned motions and seconds for several warrant articles and agreed that department heads or other presenters should speak to articles where they have subject-matter expertise.
On Article 15, the fireworks contractor proposed July 11, 2026, with a reverse rain date of July 10; the Board favored that schedule, citing travel and work conflicts associated with a Friday event. For Article 16 (Beach Street Project) the Board requested presentation slides include a location map rather than detailed engineering plans so voters can see the project area without technical drawings.
Chief Ben LaRoche is slated to provide additional detail on Article 17 (Ambulance Revolving Fund). Board members stressed that if Article 17 fails the Town will still need to fund future fire equipment replacements via other mechanisms, and they indicated Article 18 (Capital Reserves) could be amended to reflect actual funding needs. The minutes note the fire equipment capital reserve balance will be approximately $100,000 lower after 2025 expenses are processed.
Articles 19–23 (optional tax-credit/exemption items) will be presented together. The Board requested that totals for currently approved applicants be available at Town Meeting. Elections are scheduled March 10 at Newfound Regional High School (gym); Town Meeting deliberations are set for March 14 at 9:00 a.m. in the school auditorium. A Candidates Forum is scheduled March 7 at the St. Timothy Center, organized by the Minot-Sleeper Library Trustees.
The Board voted to keep slide content limited to facts and fiscal information; the closing slides will include acknowledgments and reminders for newly elected officials about post-meeting oath requirements.
