New York Mills council approves leases, donations and grant support in routine consent actions

At its June 10 meeting the New York Mills City Council approved several routine items by unanimous vote, including a two-year lease extension with Mahube-OTWA for the child care facility, acceptance of cash donations and support for a grant application.
City Clerk-Treasurer Julie Roberts said the Mahube-OTWA lease, which renews on Aug. 1, 2025, contained no changes from the prior agreement and payments have covered utilities with some funds going to a facility reserve; Councilor Maki moved to approve the lease and the motion carried. The council accepted a cash donation from the NYM Eagles Booster Club for turf at the Lund Park batting cage and a donation from F & M Bank for the Legried Community Pool; motions to approve the resolutions acknowledging those donations were moved and carried.
Council also approved Resolution No. 06-10-2025b acknowledging Council support for the Greater Minnesota Housing Infrastructure Grant application; Clerk Roberts said she had been working on the grant application with a June 12 deadline. The financial consent agenda, including an additional bill from Lumber Depot, was approved on a unanimous motion.
Other items recorded in the meeting packet and acknowledged by council included liquor store, fire, police, public works and administration reports; the pool opened for the season after a successful safety inspection. Council adjourned at 5:25 p.m.; its next regular meeting is July 8, 2025.
