Commission orders appraisal, directs sealed-bid process for county parcels
Summary
After receiving letters of interest in a 32-acre county parcel and an offer tied to an 8.33-acre Delville parcel, commissioners authorized a single appraisal for the Cowen Road parcel and directed staff to set a sealed-bid starting price based on the average of two appraisals for the Delville/9175 property.

The Delaware County Redevelopment Commission on July 9 directed staff to obtain updated appraisals and to initiate a public sealed-bid process for county-owned parcels that have generated recent interest.
Staff reported two letters of interest for a 32-acre L-shaped parcel off South Cowen (one for hunting, one for self-storage) and said the Economic Development Alliance recommends marketing the 32 acres as a whole for future business investment. Commissioners agreed that job creation should be a priority and that a position-of-interest document describing desired project characteristics would help staff screen inquiries.
On a related parcel (9175 South Innovation Drive/Delville) commissioners said an adjoining landowner had expressed possible interest in buying the full 8.33 acres and that the commission would establish a sealed-bid process with a starting price set at the average of two appraisals on file. The motion to obtain a single updated appraisal for the Cowen Road parcel passed by roll call.
