At its April 15 meeting the New Melle Board of Aldermen voted unanimously to accept a 30-inch waterline easement offered by PWSD#2 for city property at the intersection of Highway D and Highway Z adjacent to New Melle Sports and Recreation.
Alderman Janet Karrenbrock moved to accept the easement proposal; Alderman Gary Schneider seconded the motion. The Board attached a stipulation requiring PWSD#2 to inform the city of the precise location of the fire hydrant to be installed on the easement.
Why it matters: The easement will allow PWSD#2 to install a larger transmission main adjacent to a community recreation facility; the hydrant-location stipulation preserves the city's ability to confirm fire protection placement and coordinate infrastructure siting.
Next steps: The easement was accepted and recorded; the City will expect PWSD#2 to provide the hydrant location as required by the Board's stipulation.
