Plumsted board receives HIB report, approves residency determinations; community members urge pollinator projects and survey opt-out

The Plumsted Township Board of Education on Dec. 11 received its HIB report, approved several residency determinations and heard public comment from three community members.
The minutes record the HIB report as six total incidents with two founded and four unfounded. The board accepted the HIB report as part of agenda item D.1.
The board approved motions authorizing final determinations that student 202617 and students 203272 and 360699 are ineligible to attend district schools due to lack of residency effective Jan. 31, 2025. Those motions were part of the D.12 and D.13 items approved by roll call.
During the public-comment period (opened at 7:29 p.m. and closed at 7:49 p.m.) three speakers addressed the board: Megan Brandl of New Egypt raised non-profit pollinator gardens and gardening clubs; Bernard Bahnam requested information about the Rutgers Student Climate Survey and opt-out procedures and was informed by the board to submit the request in writing for it to be official; and Morgan Peterson thanked Superintendent Ytreboe and the board for their work.
Other D-section approvals included fire and security drill reports, field trips, applications to the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs for an approximate $50,000 Low Ropes Confidence Course grant and to the NJDOE for a Climate Change Learning Collaboratives grant of $30,500, approval of community helmet-safety programs at elementary schools, and permission for New Egypt High School students to participate in the 2024 National Youth Tobacco Survey (CDC/NJDOH supported).
