Demarco Patton told the Lanett City Council during a Sept. 16 work session that he plans to open a restaurant in downtown Lanett and operate initially from his food truck while he renovates the chosen building. Chris Busby of the Chambers County Development Authority introduced Patton to the council.
Code Enforcement Officer Johnny Wood told the council the building “needs quite a bit of work” before it would be ready for business, a condition Patton acknowledged as he said he would like to begin operating as soon as possible. The council did not take formal action on the proposal during the work session and directed no immediate approvals or permits.
The item was presented for council awareness and initial feedback; the council did not vote or set a timeline for permitting or inspections. Next steps recorded in the meeting were limited to the council noting the code issues and allowing staff to pursue any necessary follow-up with the applicant.
