HBAC adopts April and May minutes; Hampton Beach State Park requests more durable signage and ADA mat extension

At its June 18 meeting the Hampton Beach Area Commission voted to adopt the April and May minutes. Commissioner Jen Hale moved to adopt the minutes and Barbara Kravitz seconded; the motion carried, with Bob Ladd and NH Department of Natural & Cultural Resources representative Michael Housman recorded as abstaining.
The treasurer reported no activity and a current balance of $988.17.
Under beach projects, Meredith Collins updated the commission for Hampton Beach State Park. Collins said park priorities include extending ADA mats farther into the sand to increase accessibility and seeking funding for more durable signage; she also reported staffing arrangements for the summer and said parking impacts near South Beach were minor. The commission noted ongoing coastal-resilience priorities, including adding stormwater conveyance to its priority list and dropping a prior top signage priority.
On broader planning work, the commission opened preliminary discussion of an economic development annex to the master plan; Planner Jason Bachand is expected to return from vacation with examples and an outline to guide next steps. The chair also showed historical slides related to the bascule bridge and announced a Hampton Historical Society fundraiser called "Save our Sanford" and ongoing sand-sculpture events at the beach.
The commission set its next meeting for Sept. 24, 2026 at 6:00 p.m., announced there would be no meetings in July and August, and adjourned at 6:33 p.m.
