Lanett council approves airport annexation, appoints Chris Busby to water board and awards paving contract

The Lanett City Council voted Monday to approve the second reading of Ordinance 09-24-02 to annex airport property into the city and took several other routine actions, including appointing Chris Busby to the Chattahoochee Valley Water Board and awarding a street‑paving contract.
The actions came during the council’s regular meeting at 6:00 p.m. in the Lanett Council Chambers. Mayor Jamie Heard presided; council members Tony Malone, Tamalita Autry, Tifton Dobbs, Ronnie Tucker and Angelia Finley Thomas were present.
Councilmember Tony Malone moved to approve the second reading of Ordinance 09-24-02 to annex airport property; Tamalita Autry seconded the motion, which the council carried unanimously. Code Enforcement Officer Johnny Wood explained the need for the ordinance during the discussion.
Mayor Heard announced the first reading of Ordinance 10-24-01, which would zone the old Lanett Mill site; no action was taken on that item at the meeting.
On resolutions, the council approved Resolution 10-24-01 to appoint Chris Busby to the Chattahoochee Valley Water Board after a motion by Malone and a second by Autry. Councilmember Ronnie Tucker moved and Autry seconded Resolution 10-24-02 to accept the low bid from Chris Clark Grading and Paving for street paving; that motion was carried unanimously. Councilmember Malone moved and Angelia Finley Thomas seconded Resolution 09-24-04 addressing a dilapidated house belonging to James Burton; that resolution was also approved unanimously.
