Lanett planning official says draft comprehensive plan is "completely ready"; Planning Commission will adopt before council

Shelby Peterson of the East Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission presented the City of Lanett Comprehensive Plan during the work session and described the procedural steps needed to make the plan city policy.
Peterson walked council members through each chapter of the draft and told the council the plan was prepared and "completely ready." She explained the next steps: the Planning Commission would adopt the plan and then recommend it to the City Council for formal adoption as a city policy.
Councilman Malone thanked the committee that worked on the plan and asked those in attendance to stand in recognition. The council did not take an adoption vote at the work session; Peterson said the plan would be placed on a future agenda for action following the Planning Commission's recommendation.
