Sedgwick County board accepts Don Hatton Chevrolet bid for Animal Control cargo van

The Sedgwick County Board of Bids and Contracts voted July 9 to accept the low bid from Don Hatton Chevrolet for $98,750 for a 3/4-ton regular-body cargo van to be used by Fleet Management and Animal Control.
Bridal Rosencutter, speaking on behalf of Fleet Management and Animal Control, recommended the award and said the vehicle will be used to contain and transport stray domestic animals, transport injured animals to veterinarians and tow a livestock trailer.
The request came after a board member asked whether the purchase had been on the 2026 procurement list; a fleet representative said the vehicle is a replacement for a van that was totaled in an accident and was not originally planned for 2026. The representative also explained that Mavron, the vendor that builds the kennel containment units for the van, currently has a roughly nine-month wait list.
A board member moved to accept the low bid; the motion was seconded, the clerk called the vote and the board recorded unanimous approval.
The procurement approval authorizes Purchasing and the sponsoring department to finalize the purchase and proceed with delivery and equipment installation. The board adjourned after completing this and the Fire District No. 1 agenda item.
