Bland County adopts code change to levy 2% then 3% penalties on delinquent property taxes

Randy Johnson moved to approve and adopt the new code section; Stephen Kelley seconded. The board recorded a roll-call vote with Johnson, Kelley and Costello each voting yea, and the motion carried unanimously. The ordinance will be codified as Bland County Code §50-32.
The change establishes the penalty schedule but does not, in the meeting record, specify administrative procedures for notice, calculation, or collection beyond the percentages. The treasurer provided the penalty percentages during the hearing; further implementation details were not specified on the record.
The board held no further debate and took the final vote during the meeting. The next regular Bland County Board of Supervisors meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.
