Bland County supervisors approve consent agenda, waive festival and fair fees and adopt trash bill adjustments

Bland County — At its Sept. 24 meeting the Bland County Board of Supervisors approved a multi-item consent agenda that included payroll, bills, departmental reports and appropriations, voted to waive fees for two local events, and adopted trash bill adjustments for June–September 2024.
The consent agenda, moved by Supervisor Stephen Kelley and seconded by Supervisor Randy Johnson, included approval of minutes (Aug. 8 and Aug. 27, 2024); payroll issued Aug. 30 in the amount of $160,986.51 and payroll issued Sept. 16 in the amount of $146,108.65; vendor bills of $10,891.62 for July, $108,368.61 for August, and $261,697.63 for September; departmental reports; appropriation of the July 2024 Social Services local allotment of $15,794.22; and the Bland County School Board October 2024 requisition of $1,066,358.75. The roll call vote on the consent agenda was unanimous.
Supervisor Patrick Groseclose moved, and Supervisor Randy Johnson seconded, to approve and waive any fees for an entertainment permit for the Bland County Festival of Leaves on Oct. 12–13, 2024; the motion carried unanimously. Groseclose also moved to waive the Bland County Fair Association miscellaneous permit fee ($30.60) for amusement devices; Supervisor Stephen Kelley seconded and the board voted unanimously to waive that fee.
Later in the meeting Supervisor Patrick Groseclose moved and Supervisor Randy Johnson seconded to adopt trash bill adjustments for June–September 2024 totaling $5,291.88; the motion passed on a unanimous roll call.
There were no public speakers during the comment period. The board recessed the meeting until Oct. 9, 2024.
