Oxford City Council adopts ECICOG comprehensive plan and approves routine transfers, payables

At its Aug. 13 meeting the Oxford City Council adopted Resolution No. 2024-03 to approve ECICOG’s City of Oxford Comprehensive Plan 2024–2034, approved a set of routine motions including FY2024 fund transfers and a reclassification of the fire budget, and approved accounts payables totaling $59,441.71.
Oxford City Council voted Aug. 13 to adopt Resolution No. 2024-03, approving ECICOG’s City of Oxford Comprehensive Plan 2024–2034. Mayor Heather Johnson announced the adoption after a roll-call vote that the council recorded as affirmative.
The council moved quickly through routine business. Council member Walters moved to approve the FY2024 fund transfers as presented; Council member Hennes seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Hennes then moved to shift the Fire budget into a separate line item to improve tracking of fire-related revenues and expenses; Walters seconded and the council approved that change with all ayes.
During the meeting the council also approved the agenda and consent agenda, and accepted the clerk’s May report after a motion by Hennes and a second from Walters. The clerk presented accounts payable totaling $59,441.71 for August 2024; the list included a $41,351.25 capital improvement payment to Hart-Frederick and other routine vendor payments for utilities, library and public-works services. The council approved the payables.
Engineering staff reported that plans for the sewer plant have been submitted to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and that draft plans for the Center Street bridge project have been drawn; staff said the expected impacts would not hinder the adjacent park. The fire department reported 72 calls so far this year and that new grants had provided equipment; changes to truck numbering were also noted.
The council adjourned at 8:48 p.m. Minutes are not official until approved by the council at a subsequent meeting.
