The Seward County Board of Equalization met July 7, 2026, and issued decisions on multiple property valuation protests brought by county taxpayers.
The Board voted to make no change to the assessed value of $546,654 for Christopher and Mindy Meier (Protest No. 2026-8) based on the County Assessor’s recommendation. The motion was moved by Commissioner Darrell Zabrocki and seconded by Commissioner Scott Pekarek; votes recorded were Zabrocki, Pekarek and Chairperson Misty Ahmic in favor and Commissioner Raegan Hain abstaining.
The Board accepted the Assessor’s recommendation for Greg and Shawna Agena (Protest No. 2026-9) and, following an inspection, reduced the assessed value to $359,194 for the Lot 10 property in Culver Addition, Goehner. That motion, moved by Commissioner Raegan Hain and seconded by Commissioner Pekarek, passed unanimously.
Alyssa Hendrix appeared to present information for the Hendrix protest (Protest No. 2026-10). After inspection and review the Board approved a reduction of the assessed value to $615,172 for Lot 1, Hendrix Compound Subdivision. The motion was moved by Hain and seconded by Zabrocki and carried unanimously.
Three additional matters involving properties listed as KACH 526 LLC, KACH 580 LLC, and KACH 538 LLC (noted in the record as also owned by Hendrix) were addressed. The Board directed the Assessor’s office to review KACH 526 LLC and KACH 580 LLC with decisions to follow at a later date. Protest No. 2026-13 (KACH 538 LLC) was dismissed because the filed protest form was not complete; that dismissal was moved by Hain and seconded by Zabrocki and passed unanimously.
County Assessor Marilyn Hladky provided an update on departmental activities during the session. The Board noted items for the July 14, 2026 agenda, including additional protest hearings and assessor information updates. The Board of Equalization adjourned at 9:12 a.m.
The decisions change assessed values that will be reflected in the county’s tax rolls and could affect property tax bills once final valuations and tax calculations are completed. The Board’s actions were recorded in the official minutes.
