Louisa County supervisors approve claims, payroll changes, maintenance agreement and grant support

LOUISA COUNTY, Iowa — The Louisa County Board of Supervisors on Feb. 18 approved routine county business including claims, payroll adjustments and several contracts and contributions.
The board recorded approval of special claims totaling $120,926.12 and examined a longer list of vendor payments recorded in the minutes, including Louisa County Ambulance ($10,478.19), Morning Sun Ambulance ($7,081.00) and fuel charges to WEX ($6,242.79). The minutes note the board "vot[ed] AYE unless otherwise noted." The meeting packet lists many line items approved for payment.
The supervisors reviewed payroll changes: Timothy Edwards (Sign man) will be paid $27.10 per hour effective Feb. 26, 2025; Mike Howard (assistant to the county engineer) will be paid $34.52 per hour effective March 1, 2025; and Kenneth Marlette (dispatcher/EMA director) will be paid $47.09 per hour effective Feb. 2, 2025.
The board recorded bids for a 2010 Chevrolet Impala; Tracy Lott submitted the winning bid at $501.56. The minutes record the bids for the record.
Cyndi Mears, General Assistance coordinator, presented her monthly update. In a discussion that included Geo Lomeli and Susie Garrett, the jail administrator, the board noted that work on a jail project was completed satisfactorily and that the county could process the final payment of $33,394.80 to close the project.
Supervisors approved a three-year boiler maintenance agreement with Northwest for the county complex after a motion by Kevin Hardin and a second from Scot Hunt.
Leah McElhinney of Public Health provided her monthly report and Adam Shutt, the county engineer, gave his weekly update. The board voted to commit $1,000 per year for the next three years to support the Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT) grant program.
The board also approved a County and MHDS Region data release form to the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services; the minutes record the motion as made by Hardin and seconded by Hunt.
