At its March 11 meeting the Winnfield Mayor and City Council declared several police vehicles and office furnishings surplus and approved a series of personnel hirings in public safety, all by unanimous vote.
The police department identified the following as surplus: a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe, a 2018 Ford Taurus, a 2013 Chevrolet Impala and six office chairs described as worn and unrepairable. The council voted to declare those items surplus.
On personnel items, Lt. Curry recommended and the council approved multiple hires following public safety committee recommendations presented by Councilman Breda. Approved hires recorded in the meeting minutes include Caden Sellers (full-time police officer); Joseph Carrithers (full-time probationary police officer); Tony Nash (full-time provisional jailer); Kaylee Sweet (full-time probationary dispatcher); Michael Slayter (full-time provisional jailer); Fawn Stephens (part-time dispatcher); Robert Strother (part-time jailer); Dillion Goods (part-time jailer); and Ashley Holden (probationary full-time dispatcher). Each motion to accept the recommendations passed by a recorded vote of five yeas, zero nays.
The items were discussed as New Business Action under Police Personnel; no public comment was recorded on the hires or surplus declarations.
