Two members of the public addressed the council during the comment period.
Lisa Green Douglas of North Liberty, serving as a county Board of Supervisors liaison, told the council she can serve as the county contact for city business and pointed to a county grant team available to help with future grant applications.
Shannon Siems of Oxford reported a green utility box in an alley that he said is live and in need of replacement; he said he had contacted South Slope and requested the city’s assistance. Siems also raised concerns about previous projects where asphalt finishes were omitted from quotes; Public Works Director Scot said he would assist in contacting South Slope and agreed that bids should include finishing (asphalt) work. Councilmember Hennes said the public works director is trusted to hire contractors he deems fit; Mayor Heather Johnson interrupted to note Siems had exceeded his allotted time.
Council staff agreed to follow up with Mr. Siems on the green-box issue and to coordinate with the county on potential grant support.
