Fire Chief Jim Hennes reported to the council on April 8 that the fire department’s call volume has doubled year-over-year, mostly due to grass fires.
Hennes said the department has applied for grants from Firehouse Subs, Alliant Energy and MidAmerican Energy. He also reported that the department is purchasing a new Ford F-350 pickup using funds from its checking account.
No grant awards or vehicle specifications were recorded in the minutes; Hennes presented the status of grant applications and the equipment purchase as department business.
