Glendale introduces new police chief; chief pledges focus on leadership, transparency

The Glendale Civil Service Commission on July 8 heard staff confirm the appointment of Chief William as the city’s new police chief and received his formal introduction to the commission and public.
Human Resources staff told the commission Chief William, who served as interim chief since December 2025, brings more than two decades of law-enforcement experience and rose through the Glendale Police Department ranks. Staff said his priorities as chief include strengthening leadership across the department, investing in employee development and wellness, embracing innovation, and enhancing accountability and transparency.
At the meeting Chief William introduced members of his command team — Captains Alex Gakorian, Jason Ross and Steve Corrigan and civilian Commander Cheryl Davis Moore — and said he is committed to integrity in hiring, promotion and disciplinary processes. “Our desire is to make Glendale Police Department a great place to work,” Chief William said, adding that his team shares “a commitment” to fairness and organizational excellence.
Commissioners and staff offered congratulations. Vice Chair Reen and other commissioners praised the department’s professionalism and community engagement and said they look forward to working with the new chief on recruitment, promotion and oversight matters.
No formal action was required on the appointment at this commission meeting; the announcement was presented as a staff information item. The commission then moved through consent and personnel business on its agenda and adjourned.
