Oxford council approves road closures for fall and winter events, event liquor permits and fireworks contract

The Oxford City Council on April 8 approved multiple event and licensing items for 2025.
By unanimous motion the council approved road closures for the Oxford Car Cruise on Oct. 5, 2025 (10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.) and for Light Up Oxford on Dec. 5, 2025 (2:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m.), specifying closures along Augusta Avenue and Main Street and related alleyways. The council also approved a Traveling Tapster liquor license to allow on-site alcohol sales for Light Up Oxford.
Separately, council approved a new liquor license for Ox Bar and Grill at 213 S. Augusta Ave. Council also approved a contract with Fully Loaded Aerial Displays for a fireworks show scheduled for July 3, 2025. All motions in this block were moved by Jim Hennes (or by other councilmembers as recorded) and carried with all ayes.
These approvals were recorded under "Other Business" and require event organizers and vendors to comply with any additional licensing, safety and traffic-control requirements outside the scope of the recorded minutes.
