Ridgway council approves consent agenda, street closures and committee appointments

Ridgway — At its July 10 meeting the Ridgway Town Council unanimously approved a series of routine actions including the consent agenda, street closures for community events and appointments to an advisory committee.
On a roll-call vote the council approved the consent agenda (minutes of June 12 and June 25, the July register of demands, and liquor license renewals for Ridgway Shell, Ridgway Conoco and Greenwoods). The council also approved closing parking spaces for the Colorado Grand Auto Rally on Sept. 10 (motion by Mayor Pro Tem Meyer, second by Councilor Kroger) with the condition the applicant notify nearby residents and businesses, and approved closing N. Cora Street on Aug. 29 for the annual Block Party (motion by Councilor Kroger, second by Mayor Pro Tem Meyer). All votes were unanimous.
Councilmember Kroger moved to appoint Pam Kraft and Tia Mihelarakas to the Ridgway FUSE Committee; Mayor Pro Tem Meyer seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The council discussed current voluntary water restrictions and agreed to prepare web and social media communications that encourage good water practices. The manager presented a proposed schedule for preparing the 2025 budget and the council agreed to hold the annual budget retreat on Oct. 12, 2024.
The Town Attorney recommended the council enter executive session under C.R.S. 24-6-402(4)(b) to receive legal advice regarding the town’s water rights and facilities; the council entered closed session at 8:50 p.m. and reconvened at 9:20 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 9:20 p.m.
