Ridgway — The Town Council on July 10 directed staff to pursue exploring a joint housing-administration arrangement with the City of Ouray and Ouray County, with the goal of issuing a shared solicitation for a third-party housing services provider beginning in 2025.
Manager Neill reported on a June 25 meeting with elected officials from the City of Ouray and Ouray County in which participants discussed a regional housing committee and the possibility of each jurisdiction sharing the cost of a joint housing administrator. The Town Manager presented a set of proposed services intended to address Ridgway’s needs: deed-restriction management, maintaining a record of available units, homebuyer education, grant writing and grant administration and oversight.
Council discussion led to consensus support for the manager’s four recommendations, including developing an intergovernmental agreement to clarify shared responsibilities and cost-sharing, and preparing a joint solicitation for housing services in 2025. No final contract or vendor was selected at the July 10 meeting; the action was a direction to staff to proceed with planning and coordination with Ouray and Ouray County.
