Boyce council keeps fines for Whiting Avenue property, discusses sidewalks and trash bids

The Boyce Town Council on April 1, 2025, agreed to maintain fines for a property at 8 Whiting Avenue until the property comes into compliance following repeated neighbor complaints and contact with the county sheriff’s office.
Town Administrator Matt Hoff said a neighbor had come into the office multiple times to report noise at the address and that Jeremey Camp advised the town would receive a $100 fee in relation to two sheds on the property. Council member David Griffin asked whether the council wished to wipe fines; the council decided to move forward with fines until compliance is achieved.
Council also discussed potential use of remaining COVID-era funds to pay for engineering services related to sidewalks, though no final decision was recorded in the transcript. Two bids for trash service were received and the council is awaiting a response from Freedom about a multi-year bid option.
Chief Brian Conrad of the BVFC told the council the department had "resumed Free Hot Dog Friday" on the first Friday of the month to connect with the community and recruit new members and that the department is hiring a couple of career staff "to ensure staff working every day." Planning Commission business was postponed (no March meeting), and a joint meeting was rescheduled for April 21, 2025. Treasurer John O'Neil reported a meeting on April 30 to finalize COVID paperwork and noted four unpaid real estate tax bills; David Griffin will send letters.
The council scheduled a work session for April 29, 2025 at 6 p.m. and set the next regular meeting for May 6, 2025 at 7 p.m. There were no public comments and the meeting adjourned at 7:27 p.m.
