Boyce Planning Commission faces leadership gap as member steps down; short-term-rental rules pending town attorney review

David Winsatt, reporting for the Planning Commission, told the Boyce Town Council on Sept. 17 that the commission met Sept. 16 and is in urgent need of two members after Bryan Orr moved out of town. Winsatt said he will step down as of Dec. 31, 2024, which could leave the commission without active leadership.
Winsatt said the commission continues to work through Section 3 (Definitions) of the zoning ordinance and is awaiting documentation from the town attorney on two proposals: rules for short-term rentals and standards for temporary storage containers. Councilmembers discussed outreach to recruit new commissioners and agreed to include the vacancy notice in the town newsletter, on Facebook and by mailing where appropriate. Winsatt said the commission's next meeting is Oct. 21.
The council did not take formal action to appoint members at the Sept. 17 meeting; recruitment and candidate interviews were discussed as next steps.
