Boyce council approves Aug. 6 minutes, schedules code-inspector interviews and sets Trick-or-Treat hours

Mayor Zack Hudson called the Boyce Town Council to order at 7 p.m. on Sept. 17. After roll call, the council approved the Aug. 6, 2024 meeting minutes following a motion from Councilmember Berkeley Reynolds and a second from Councilmember Carol Coffelt; the motion passed 5-0.

Town Administrator Matt Hoff told the council delinquent tax collections continue at a low rate ("1-2 per month") and reported one or two minor issues with the town's new trash hauler, Freedom, but said the company has been "very good to work with." Hoff also said a new Code Compliance Inspector applicant arrived that day, bringing the total to three; council members scheduled interviews for Sept. 24 at 6 p.m.

Treasurer John O'Neil said he has found historical tax payments that were not marked as paid and is correcting records as he discovers them; he estimated about 10% of accounts receivable remain to be reviewed. The council had no formal vote on billing changes but discussed O'Neil's plan to examine billing processes.

The council set Boyce Trick-or-Treat for Oct. 31 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mayor Hudson said he would be unavailable to staff Town Hall for candy distribution and asked that another volunteer fill that role if the town wishes to continue handing out candy at Town Hall. Council also reserved the fire-hall space for a holiday breakfast on Dec. 13, 2024, and agreed to continue planning details.

The council scheduled a work session for Sept. 24 at 6 p.m. and its next regular meeting for Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. No members of the public spoke during the public-comment period; the meeting adjourned at 7:41 p.m.
