Boyce council adopts 'Code Compliance Inspector' job title; approves July minutes

The Boyce Town Council on Aug. 6 voted to adopt the title and job description "Code Compliance Inspector" for the town's vacant code-enforcement position and approved the minutes from its July 2 meeting.
Council member Carol Coffelt moved to accept the new title and job description; Berkeley Reynolds seconded and the motion passed 4-1-1. The meeting record identifies Floyd Hudson as the dissenting vote and Dennis Hall as abstaining; individual votes for the remaining members were not specified in the record. Earlier in the meeting, Coffelt moved and Reynolds seconded approval of the July 2 minutes, and that motion passed 5-0.
Town Administrator Matt Hoff told the council the existing Code Enforcer position remains vacant; the council scheduled an interview for the position on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. at Town Hall. Council members debated whether the revised job description should more explicitly state enforcement duties; the motion to adopt the title and text passed with the recorded dissent and abstention noted above.
The council also reviewed FOIA procedures after a question from Coffelt about how to request records and statutory response times. Hoff and staff said the current materials adequately cover the basic procedures; Hoff will forward the documents to David Griffin for further review.
The council set a work session for Aug. 27 at 6:00 p.m. and its next regular meeting for Sept. 17 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 7:52 p.m.
