Planning Board tables TIF and Zoom policy discussions; raises downtown crosswalk and Main Street timing

Presque Isle — At its Feb. 20 meeting, the Presque Isle Planning Board postponed discussion of Tax Increment Financing (TIF) and whether presenters may appear by Zoom, and discussed downtown crosswalk placement and Main Street design timing.
Deputy Director Tim St. Peter asked the board whether to discuss TIF now or wait for a full board; members expressed a preference to wait. St. Peter also said the Planning Board ordinance does not explicitly prohibit presenters from appearing by Zoom, but said board members themselves must be present in person for the meeting. Rachel Murchison said she had no objection to presenters using Zoom, while Tim Vernon and Jayne Farrin said they preferred presenters to attend in person.
Dave Perry moved, and Tim Vernon seconded, a motion to table the discussions on TIF and Zoom meetings until the next Planning Board meeting; the motion passed unanimously.
Vice-Chairman Ward Gerow said he would like the Cedar and Main Street crosswalk to appear under the new downtown design. Tim Vernon asked when the Main Street design would begin and was told it should start in April. City Manager Tyler Brown said crosswalks had been painted last year and that the specific crosswalk is not currently in the downtown plan but could be suggested for re-inclusion.
The board adjourned at 6:39 PM; members were told there will be no meeting on March 6 and the next meeting is scheduled for March 20.
