Chanhassen announces rescheduled fireworks, open house and multiple roadwork updates

A staff member for the City of Chanhassen announced a round of community updates, including a rescheduled fireworks display, an open house for a street-improvement project and several roadwork closures and temporary traffic changes.
The fireworks canceled on Saturday have been rescheduled for Thursday, July 23 at Lake Ann Park and will begin at 10:00 p.m., the staff member said. The display will follow the regular summer concert series program, which runs from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
The city invited residents to an open house on July 22 at City Hall to review the Pleasant View Improvement Project as it enters preliminary design. The open house will cover proposed pavement rehabilitation, targeted utility repairs, traffic calming measures and stormwater improvements.
Construction activity is advancing on several streets. Staff reported that Phase 2 of the Market Boulevard improvement project began this week and includes a closure from Market Street South to West 79th Street; access, the bulletin said, remains available from the north and the south. Phase 1 areas remain open to traffic and access to Market Square Shopping Center has been improved, the announcement added.
The city posted a video interview with City Engineer and Public Works Director Charlie Halley that explains what was accomplished in Phase 1 and what residents can expect for Phase 2 and a later Phase 3 this fall.
Bluff Creek Drive near Pioneer Trail is closed until about July 17 for work related to the Pioneer Ridge development, the staff member said. Separately, work began on the Great Plains Lake Drive East rehabilitation project, including pavement removal, curb and sidewalk replacement, driveway apron replacement and storm sewer repairs. To maintain access during that project, a temporary one-way condition has been set up on Lake Drive East; residents were advised to use Dakota Avenue by McDonald's to reach Lake Drive East between Great Plains and Dakota Avenue while work is underway.
The staff member closed the bulletin by thanking residents for their patience during the projects and said the city will check in next week with updates.
