The Polk County Board of Equalization on June 23 in Osceola approved updated property valuations for assessment year 2026 after a report from the county assessor.
Assessor Krance presented a list of properties that the office determined to be overvalued, undervalued or omitted following submission of the county’s abstract to the Property Tax Administrator. Board member Boruch moved to approve the updated values for all properties listed on the assessor’s report; Board member Boss seconded the motion. The roll-call vote recorded Boruch, aye; Boss, aye; and Chairman Jerry Westring, aye. The motion carried unanimously.
The board convened at 9:00 a.m., and the minutes of the May 26, 2026 meeting were read and approved before the valuation discussion. Chairman Jerry Westring told attendees that a current copy of the Open Meetings Act is posted in the meeting room. County Clerk Debra S. Girard attested to the meeting record.
After the vote, the meeting record states that valuation change notices will be sent to affected property owners. The Board made itself available to hear concerns about assessed valuations; no interested persons appeared. With no further business the Board adjourned at 9:25 a.m.
The actions recorded in the minutes include approval of the May 26 minutes and formal approval of the assessor’s valuation updates; the minutes also note the Open Meetings Act posting and that clerical signatures were recorded.
