Lynn Township EAC approves minutes, moves public comment to top and assigns multiple follow-ups

At its Oct. 18 meeting the Lynn Township Environmental Advisory Council approved its Sept. 18 minutes, agreed to move public comment to the top of future agendas, reviewed old-business items (Envirothon, bylaws, gun-club impact), and assigned action items including social-media setup and several proposal drafts.
The Lynn Township Environmental Advisory Council convened Oct. 18 and recorded a series of procedural approvals and action assignments.
Kathryn Townsend called the meeting to order at 6:28 PM. The council approved the minutes for Sept. 18, 2025, by voice vote (motion by Townsend, second by Rob Sayre) and then agreed to move Public Comment to the top of the agenda after a motion by Annie Hungaski seconded by Kathryn Townsend.
During public comment, a resident identified as Paul said he had seen Channel 69 report that Route 80 was being rerouted because of bald eagle habitat and said that "demonstrates the clout of the animal rights people." The minutes record the comment but contain no follow-up or verification.
Old-business items included a possible Envirothon program (G. Caprio is preparing a proposal for the BOS), referral of concerns about a local gun club to the Board of Supervisors, and distribution of a draft set of bylaws for redlining with a final draft due to A. Hungaski by Nov. 20, 2025. The lighting ordinance discussion was explicitly tabled as a 2026 priority.
Members recorded miscellaneous follow-ups: R. Sayre will follow up with Hawk Mountain about kestrel and barn-owl boxes; he also photographed potential sites used for overflow parking at the Apple Festival and flagged a possible pole-barn site for the Lynn Historical Society. K. Townsend and R. Sayre will administer a new Facebook account and K. Townsend will set up other social accounts such as Nextdoor. The council noted the Lehigh County hazardous-waste collection event scheduled for Nov. 1, 2025, at the Coca-Cola Stadium parking lot and recorded that Fall 2025 Cleanup Day is canceled.
The meeting adjourned at 7:43 PM on a motion by Gabriel Caprio, seconded by Tricia Ferraro. The minutes show the document was approved on Nov. 20, 2025.
