At the Sept. 11 Lynn Township supervisors meeting, Lynnport and New Tripoli fire company chiefs updated the board on emergency-response activity, training and planned community events.
Lynnport Fire Chief Kevin Utt reported the department has responded to 50 emergency calls to date, noted personnel training (one member taking paramedic and Fire I courses), listed upcoming training classes and fundraisers, and said breakfast service will resume on Sept. 21. New Tripoli Fire Chief Gary Kuntz reported 136 emergency calls to date, noted completion of a Fire Officer I course by one member, and described efforts to obtain a donated 15,000-gallon water tank to store clean water at the station for training and emergencies; he said portable radios are in service and a state grant had closed out with an MOU signed.
Both chiefs listed imminent community events (grocery bingo, fall bash, bike ride, golf tournament) and training schedules. The board received the reports; no formal actions were taken on the items reported.
Why it matters: Fire department readiness, training and water-supply capacity are core public-safety services; the donated tank would enhance local training and emergency response capability.
Next steps: Fire companies will continue to pursue training and event planning; New Tripoli will proceed with the donated water tank arrangements.
