Resident urges review of commercial dumpster and trash rates, points to inconsistent billing

During the Service Committee public‑comment period, resident Greg White outlined results of a public‑records review of city trash accounts and asked the city to study trash rates and dumpster practices.
White said his public records requests showed temporary dumpsters in residential areas remaining past allowed periods and some commercial accounts paying as little as $15.62 per week while residential customers pay about $20 weekly. "Some of them only pay $15.62 a week for pickup," he said, and added that commercial accounts might dispose of "20, 30, 40 bags out every week and only pay $24.50 a week," a disparity he called unfair to residents. He asked whether permanent dumpsters are permitted in residential areas and whether commercial accounts are uniformly classified and billed.
White asked the council to create a special committee to gather facts, investigate the billing differences, and propose changes so that the city’s trash system is transparent and equitable. Committee members acknowledged the concern and said they would investigate further; no ordinance was introduced at the meeting.
