Ridgway awards microgrid contract and easement for Space to Create resilience hub

The Ridgway Town Council authorized staff to execute a contractor services agreement with Alternative Power Enterprises, Inc. not to exceed $63,875 for the Ridgway Space to Create Resilience Hub Microgrid Project and approved an accompanying rooftop easement with Artspace Ridgway Limited Partnership to allow installation of solar panels and microgrid equipment.
Town Manager Neill reported the Town received three bids; Alternative Power Enterprises submitted the low bid of $63,875 against a project budget of $70,000. Councilor Schuyler noted the Town received a $46,009 grant from the Department of Local Affairs to help offset costs and added that a clean energy tax credit could further reduce net expense. Mayor Pro Tem Meyer moved to authorize execution of the contract, Councilor Lakin seconded, and the motion carried with Councilor Schuyler abstaining.
Town Attorney Nerlin presented the easement agreement required for rooftop installation; Council authorized Mayor Clark to execute the easement with Artspace Ridgway Limited Partnership unanimously.
Next steps: Staff will finalize the contractor agreement and the easement documents and coordinate installation with Artspace and the selected contractor.
