Ridgway council sets community grant program target at up to 2.5% of general fund for 2025

The Ridgway Town Council set a funding target for its 2025 Community Grant Program at up to 2.5% of the general fund during its Oct. 9 meeting.
Staff reported that grant applications were solicited Aug. 1 with a Sept. 16 deadline and that an Ad Hoc committee of community members, business owners and nonprofit representatives will review applications and prepare funding recommendations. Town Manager staff had recommended 2% of the general fund (about $82,000). Council discussed and initially agreed to 2.25% (approximately $92,200), then Mayor Pro Tem Meyer moved to target up to 2.5% for the program, specifying that the Ad Hoc Review Committee's funding recommendation shall not exceed that target. Councilor Scoville seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Council directed staff and the Ad Hoc committee to work within the established target when developing funding recommendations for community grant awards in 2025.
